(Week 1)

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Florida, Alabama, and Houston, Texas for the majority of my life.

What high school did you attend?

I attended Clear Creek High School.

What was your favorite extracurricular activity in high school?

I used to dance and play badminton.

Why did you come to UT?

I came to UT because of its amazing Computer Science program and that it’s in-state. I felt that I would get to learn a lot at UT that would help me in my career in the future.

Why are you majoring in CS?

I enjoy problem-solving and working with technology, so CS has been a great intersection for me to do both of those things.

Why are you in this class?

I am in this class because I want to gain a really good understanding of what Software Engineering consists of since there are many topics under it. I feel that I will get to learn and work with various tools and programming languages throughout the semester that I will one day have to use as a full-time Software Engineer.

What are your expectations of this class?

My expectations are just to learn a lot about Software Engineering, and develop the skills to work in a large group for a project that is several months long.

How much Javascript/Python/SQL/Web programming do you already know?

I am slightly familiar with JavaScript and am a bit more familiar with Python and SQL. However, I have not used all three together to build a web application, so I am looking forward to doing that this semester.

How did you like the two lectures?

I liked the two lectures. The first lecture outlined the class expectations really well and discussed the different types of assignments we will have. The second lecture was also really informative and we got to learn some of the insights behind Docker and how to set it up.

How did you feel about the cold calling?

I like the cold calling. Last semester in OOP Professor Downing used cold calling and I noticed that it made me focus a lot more during class. It can be intimidating at first since there are so many students, but it gets better over time.

What made you happy this week?

Getting to see all of my friends again made me really happy. It’s been a really long time since all of us were back on campus. I am also happy classes have started again, because I am looking forward to all of my classes this semester.
