What did you do this past week?

This past week I met with my group members and came up with some ideas and over the weekend we were able to finalize one idea and flesh out a proposal. Besides that, I have been catching up on work for some of my other classes.

What’s in your way?

I would say the main thing in the way is Phase 1 of the project. My group and I need to meet up and plan out what we need to do and how we want to do it. I know there will be a bit of a learning curve for me during this process so I will need to familiarize myself with those topics.

What will you do next week?

Next week, my group members and I will work on the remaining portions of Phase 1 for our project and get as much done as possible. I know there will be some new things that I need to familiarize myself with such as React and AWS so I will be spending time to get a better understanding of those.

If you read it, what did you think of the Single Responsibility Principle?

I thought it was a pretty informational paper. Usually, when I code I never think to split up all the responsibilities and I just combine them all into one class. After reading the paper I see how important it is to do so and how code becomes comparatively more resistant to bugs.

What was your experience of IDB1 and reduce?

I thought it was pretty straightforward and simple to understand. After working with other people on the exercise it became even more clear.

How did you fare in the storm?

Luckily, I wasn’t too affected by the storm. The week started off great where I got to go sledding down the streets of West Campus with friends. I was grateful to have power and food throughout the week. My roommates and I only lost water for a day, but thankfully we were able to save some and also have friends that had running water.

What made you happy this week?

This might sound really boring, but I was able to catch up on a lot of sleep this past week. These past few weeks I have been sleeping really late and waking up early so it was nice to reset after all that chaotic weather we had last week.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My pick-of-the-week is Jira. Jira is an Atlassian Tool that is very important for project management. You can easily track issues and bugs within your projects and is widely used in agile development.
